The exercises were well developed and fostered productive discussions about how we can initiate positive change in the workplace. I would highly recommend Adventure Teamworks to any organization that is in need of improving interpersonal skills and overall team cohesion.

Why are teambuilding and organizational development programs useful or important?
Organizations are bombarded with questions from all directions and required to give instant answers to complex problems. Leaders need to find new ways to inspire and empower its people with “knowledge power” and create work environments where members find value in growth opportunities instead of strictly salaries and benefits. Adventure Teamworks works with organizations to focus on its most important resource – its people – and develops a program that enables the necessary changes. We value the importance of people at every level and help enlist positive change where needed. An effectively facilitated teambuilding experience can help organizations accomplish many goals, including improved communication, clarification of operating agreements, consensus of team direction, resolution of conflicts inhibiting team performance and increased productivity.

We train and advise in the re-development, re-affirmation and re-focus the human resource component of your organization by:

  • Removing team members from normal work environment to allow safe, risk-free communication and learning;

Are programs easy or difficult?
All activities take place in a positive and supportive atmosphere. Personal safety is always our first priority. We use the "challenge by choice" concept where facilitators encourage participation to the level of one’s personal comfort. Challenges could ask members of the group to physically help one another or verbally work together to solve a problem. Cooperation and mutual support, rather than competition and physical prowess are emphasized.

What will we do during your program?
Each program is unique and customized to your group’s needs. Depending on what you select, your group will partake in enjoyable hands-on experiential activities, interactive group discussions, or light-hearted challenges. No matter the program, new insights involving problem solving, leadership, effective communication, and goal setting will be gained at individual and team levels.

What is teambuilding?

Teambuilding can be defined as the process of enabling a group of people to reach their goals together. Adventure Teamworks accomplishes this by taking groups through four main stages:

  1. Clarify goals;
  2. Identify issues inhibiting team performance;
  3. Address and take action to remove such inhibitors;
  4. Reinforce effective group communication.

How do we know teambuilding will help?
Experience-based training and development programs enable people to be actively involved in the learning process. Studies have proven that active learning compared to passive learning (lectures, etc.) increase retention levels from 35 percent to 80 percent with retention remaining for substantially longer time periods than other forms of teaching, according to Dr. Priest, founder of Corporate Adventure Training (CAT) Institute at Brock University, Canada.

Ongoing teambuilding sessions have the strongest results and impact on the way employees communicate, collaborate, solve problems and find solutions. According to Dr. Priest, quarterly teambuilding programs influence 70 percent of participants to work as a team directly after the program, 62 percent after four weeks, 61 percent after three months and 64 percent after six months.

In addition to retention and application, teambuilding also has a greater impact on improved behavior and habits. Because workshops require input and active participation, each person is engaged in the content being taught and has a hands-on understanding of the lesson that they can employ in their daily interactions at work.
